‘The Beauty In The Boredom showcases the archive of images I collected from my hometown in Cornwall. I wanted the work to leave space for the more tranquil moments I remember from home and often think back to since moving to London.

I decided to reimagine the project in my new environment, South-East London. I exhibited a trail of images around Camberwell and Peckham and produced a map which located each piece.

I printed each image in varying sizes to mirror the strength of the memories attached to them. The contrast between the tranquil landscapes of Cornwall and the brutalist Peckham area perfectly communicated  feelings of nostalgia toward the slower pace of life I used to take for granted.

The area provided a natural soundscape. As you interact with the images, you can’t help but be aware of the overbearing audio of South London. The sounds of the city interrupt the contemplation of the images highlighting how they are out of place and can only truly be contemplated and reflected on where they were captured.
